Halka ("Halka", "we", "us") is a mental wellness app published by VerityX LLP, Kalka, Haryana, India (LLPIN ACS-4574). This policy explains what personal data Halka collects, why, how it is protected, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to the Halka Android app and to its pages at verityx.space/halka.

The short version

1. Who is responsible for your data

VerityX LLP decides why and how your personal data is processed (the "data fiduciary" under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the "body corporate" under the Information Technology Act, 2000). Contact details are in section 12.

2. What we collect and why

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

What we do not collect: your contacts list, location, photos, call or SMS logs, advertising ID, Aadhaar or other government IDs, or data from other apps.

3. Android permissions

Permission Used for When we ask
Notifications Reminders you set When you choose a reminder time
Microphone Voice notes in your journal When you first tap the mic
Biometric / screen lock App lock When you turn on App lock

Choosing a trusted contact uses Android's own contact picker, which shares only the one contact you tap; Halka cannot see your address book. Calls and messages open in your phone's own dialler or messaging app; Halka never calls or texts on its own.

We process personal data on the basis of your consent, given separately for (a) using the app under our Terms, (b) wellbeing information, and (c) optional analytics and backup. We may also process data where the law requires it (for example, to respond to a lawful order) or to protect someone's life in a medical emergency.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data, and we do not use it for advertising. We use these service providers, who process data only on our instructions and under contract:

We may disclose data if required by Indian law, a court order or a government authority acting lawfully, and will tell you where the law allows.

6. Where your data is stored

Cloud data is stored in India (Google Cloud, Mumbai). Some support services of our providers may process limited technical data outside India, as permitted under Indian law.
